People everywhere are fortunate enough to benefit from the many beautiful places people have built throughout the ages. Unfortunately, due to climate change and human negligence some of these sites and cities may disappear before may have the chance to experience them. Here’s a list of 5 places you need to visit before they disappear from the planet.

Venice, Italy

With beautiful canals, amazing architecture, and intricate masks, Venica is certainly a destination for the romantic. Sadly, the “Floating City” may not be floatings for too much longer. The city has been sinking. Due to a rise in water levels, Venice has recently faced several floods and experts believe the city may be uninhabitable by the end of the century.

The Dead Sea

The lowest point on Earth is the Dead Sea. Many ancient texts discuss the amazing mineral rich sea and it should definitely be on every travelers bucket list. The effects o floating on the water, as well as the benefits of its mud on a person’s skin, dazzle tourists every year. Unfortunately, throughout the last 40 years the sea has shrunk by a third. Scientists predict the Sea could be completely dried up in as little as 50 years!

The Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral system in the world. The bright colors and diverse ecosystem amaze tourists daily. However, several environmental problems are killing the reef. Due to rising water temperatures and increase of water pollution the reef is losing its color and turning white (otherwise known as coral bleaching). Scientists have found that 93% of the reef is affected by some level of bleaching.

Seychelles

The Seychelles is a grouping of over 110 islands, in the Indian Ocean. The islands are seen as amazing places to vacation, as one is surrounded by beaches and crystal blue waters. Even though tourist flock to the area, preservation of its environment was not a high issue until recently. The ecosystem has seen massive coral die-off and experts believe the islands are at risk of beach erosion.  If you would like future generations to enjoy these islands, we better act now, as scientist believe all the islands could disappear in 50-100 years!

As the Alps sit at a rather low altitude, the mountain range is ver y susceptible to climate change. Scientists report the glaciers shrink around 3% each year. Experts also say it is possible the range could completely disappear by 2050!
